Magic Town Huamantla Tlaxcala

Huamantla Náhuatl comes from the word "cuahuitl" meaning tree as well as "man" for peanuts, they mean together, formed or aligned, and the locative postposition "tla" denoting abundance. So Huamantla means "place of trees formed or together."

Huamantla has been featured in national history because of its location, as a step between the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico and Central Highlands. Thus Hernán Cortés passed through this place and its inmedicaiones confronted primarily with the Otomi group led by Tocpaxochiu warrior who guarded territory this side of Tlaxcala, and secondly with the fierce Xicohténcatl "young" under the command Tlaxcala army.
